A sterile, water-insoluble, malleable, porcine gelatin absorbable sponge intended for haemostatic use by applying to a bleeding surface. Used dry or saturated with sterile sodium chloride solution, is indicated for surgical procedures (except ophthalmic) for haemostasis, when control of capillary, venous and arteriolar bleeding by pressure, ligature and other conventional procedures is ineffective or impractical

  • Used worldwide to stop mild bleeding
  • Available in a number of different versions and is basically a gelatin sponge with a neutral pH
  • The bleeding should stop within 2-10 minutes.
  • Spongostan® is absorbed within 4-6 weeks.
